Paranoid is the second studio album by the English rock band Black Sabbath. Released in September 1970, it was the band's only LP to top the UK Albums Chart until the release of 13 in 2013. Paranoid contains several of the band's signature songs, including "Iron Man", "War Pigs" and the title track, which was the band's only Top 20 hit, reaching number 4 in the UK charts. It is often cited as an influential album in the development of heavy metal music.
Paranoid fiction is a term sometimes used to describe works of literature that explore the subjective nature of reality and how it can be manipulated by forces in power. These forces can be external, such as a totalitarian government, or they can be internal, such as a character's mental illness or refusal to accept the harshness of the world he or she is in.

D Jones’ new album Paranoid Fiction was constructed with both time periods in mind, and both shine through on our first taste, the three-minute ripper Reaper. Inspired by the romantic miscreant stories of New York City’s Lower East Side of the 1970s, Reaper is as rugged as it is catchy, fully embodying the D Jones headspace. A healthy diet of mezcal, black barrel whiskey, and a ton of caffeine were consumed, Jones recalls of the recording process. Unless the Mets lost; then it was late-night tacos or a run to Yun Nan Flavour for a snack and a crash on the couch.
