All Super Roots releases were then reissued on Vice in early 2007 (with the exclusion of Super Roots 2). In late 2004, Boredoms released its first album as a group in four years, Seadrum/House of Sun, most of which had been previously recorded before the band's brief hiatus. This release also saw the band move from their label WEA Japan to the smaller Japanese label Commmons. In early 2007, the group released Super Roots 9, the first addition to the Super Roots series since 1999 and their first major release since Seadrum/House of Sun.

Actually the fifth in the semi-regular Super Roots series, and only the second to have seen American release, Vol. 6 continues in the vein of its predecessors, with the Boredoms showing off an even more experimental and just plain out there sound than on their already wild and woolly regular releases. Here, though, rather than getting even crazier, the group of what is now five generally aim at creating a stripped-down and relaxed effort here, much more suitable for zoning and nodding gently instead of going spastic. Even the more energetic songs don't approach full-on Boredoms chaos.

Part Six of the Boredoms' grand experiment known as the Super Roots series, staging the band's gradual metamorphosis from post-hardcore to a thoroughly original take on cosmic space rock. This album is less striking than Super Roots 5, but equally important, as it helped shape the details of band's sound as they neared the inevitable breakthrough album "Super Ae" (1998), which was presumably the culmination towards which the entire Super Roots experiment had been leading. It enabled the band to avoid the trap of being a one-trick-pony, and ensured that their career renaissance would truly sound like little that had come before.
