Rain Dogs is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter Tom Waits, released in September 1985 on Island Records. A loose concept album about "the urban dispossessed" of New York City, Rain Dogs is generally considered the middle album of a trilogy that includes Swordfishtrombones and Franks Wild Years.
Rain Dogs helped to solidify Tom Waits’ reputation as one of America’s great bohemian weirdos. Big Black Mariah -anchored by Keith Richards’ raucous guitar squawk and percussion seemingly salvaged from a junkyard-is a gnarly mash of country blues and avant-garde theatre. Anywhere I Lay My Head is equally cuckoo, with Waits howling like a drunken bulldog over marching-band jazz. But the record isn’t 100% bizarro-it also contains romantic stuff like Downtown Train, one of the all-time great subway love songs.
But Rain Dogs is sprawling where its predecessor had been focused: Tom Waits' lyrics here sometimes are imaginative to the point of obscurity, seemingly chosen to fit the rhythms rather than for sense
Produced by Tom Waits. Rain Dogs (Original) Lyrics. Inside a broken clock Splashing the wine With all the rain dogs Taxi, we'd rather walk Huddle a doorway with the Rain Dogs For I am a Rain Dog, too. Oh, how we danced and we swallowed the night For it was all ripe for dreaming Oh, how we danced away All of the lights We've always been out of our minds
Текст песни:, rain dogs Inside a broken clock Splashing the wine with all the rain dogs Taxi, we’d rather walk. And we’ve always been out of our minds The rum pours strong and thin Beat out the dustman with the rain dogs Aboard a shipwreck train Give my umbrella to the rain dogs For I am a rain dog, too Yes, I know how we danced with the Rose of Tralee Her long hair was black as a raven Yes, I know. how we danced and you whispered to me You’ll never be going back home Yes, I know how we danced with the Rose of Tralee Her long hair was black as a raven Yes, I know how we danced and you whispered to me That you’ll never be going back home.
The album works as a whole.
