Sisters – Ghost Fits. In a sense, Sisters is Brooklyn’s answer to Wavves, No Age, and all the other Cali lo-fi love. That isn’t to say you should take the duo’s debut, Ghost Fits, to the beach;instead, similarities in sound and methodology are more important to note. The guitars are fuzzy, the energy raw, the song structures simple (even with their occasional noisy outbursts).

Sisters - Ghost Fits. My not-so-secret confession: I want to be the lead singer of a punk rock band indieshuffle. 12 November 2010 ·. New flagpole.

Sisters follow in the line of noise-pop duos so successfully branded by No Age. The band consists of Aaron Pfannebecker on guitar and Matt Conboy on drums and keys. Yet the noise doesn’t come through on the album. Though the sound comes across as thick and robust, it has little texture. Besides the weakness of Pfannebecker’s voice is the fact that Sisters don’t typically hit upon infectious melodies (unlike a band like No Age). Most of the songs have very predictable chord progressions, referencing the gamut of ‘90s indie pop.
The tracks on Ghost Fits often sounded similar - Sisters isn't quite at the level of of musical variety as Liars, for example - but it's a good time of a listen nonetheless. However, "Highway Scratch," a song dead in the middle of the album, really stood out as a unique approach. Beginning with a softer sound backed by xylophone, it showed diversity in Sisters' musical abilities, and made me interested to see what else they have to offer. View all X tour dates for. Back in August of 2015, a nameless ghoul vaguely confirmed that Dave Grohl had indeed played Ghost material in a ghoul suit but stopped just short of confirming that it was on stage. At this point, however, we think it’s probably safe to say Grohl has played on stage with them (and every other band on planet Earth) at least once, but you never know with Ghost, and that’s part of the fun.
