Ready for Freddie is an album by trumpeter Freddie Hubbard and was released on the Blue Note label in 1962 as BLP 4085 and BST 84085. In 2003, it was remastered and published on CD support. The two alternate takes didn't appear on the original LP. It features performances by Hubbard, Bernard McKinney, Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner, Art Davis and Elvin Jones.

Trumpeter Freddie Hubbard really came into his own during this Blue Note session. He is matched with quite an all-star group (tenor saxophonist Wayne Shorter, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Art Davis, and drummer Elvin Jones in addition to Bernard McKinney on euphonium), introduces two of his finest compositions ("Birdlike" and "Crisis"), and is quite lyrical on his ballad feature, "Weaver of Dreams.

Frederick Dewayne Hubbard (April 7, 1938 – December 29, 2008) was an American jazz trumpeter. He was known primarily for playing in the bebop, hard bop, and post-bop styles from the early 1960s onwards. His unmistakable and influential tone contributed to new perspectives for modern jazz and bebop. Hubbard started playing the mellophone and trumpet in his school band at Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, Indiana

Trumpet prodigy Freddie Hubbard was welcomed in the early 1960s much as Wynton Marsalis was 20 years later. This is a 1962 Hubbard session with a glittering band, including Wayne Shorter on tenor, McCoy Tyner on piano and Elvin Jones on drums. It's not as lasting in substance as the same era's Hub-Tones or Goin' Up. Yet with its seven boppish tracks, including two tunes with alternates, Ready for Freddie is hard to resist for the leader's tumbling energy and enthusiasm, astonishingly glossy tone and freshness of thought.
