This is one of the finest recordings ever of trumpeter Al Hirt and clarinetist Pete Fountain. A classic Dixieland set, it finds Hirt and Fountain in their early prime quite inspired by each other's ideas. With the assistance of a fine rhythm section and the underrated trombonist Bob Havens, Hirt and Fountain romp through such numbers as "The Original Dixieland One-Step," "Royal Garden Blues," "Jazz Me Blues," and "South Rampart Street Parade

A straight CD reissue of Al Hirt's Jazz Band Ball from 1956, this is one of the finest recordings ever of trumpeter Al Hirt and clarinetist Pete Fountain. Pete Fountain Presents the Best of Dixieland. Trumpeter Al Hirt's "Super Jazz" of 1975 is a good live jazz stereo recording to hear and collect (gital CD), even if not his best live recording put to CD (which would definitely be the great stereo 1962 recording "At the Mardi Gras" remastered to CD in 2000) and possibly not Clarinetist Pete Fountain's, but still an important disc. for listeners involved in the careers of these two New Orleans-jazz giants and their bands. Hirt grew out of the New Orleans French Quarter ragtime, dixieland jazz movement along with Pete Fountain
