The dream pop gods release their final album before a lengthy hiatus. While this album does capture the fragile beauty of Hope Sandoval's vocals, it has very few standout tracks and little variation, making it a bit of a flat listen. 60. The dreams faded into vacuum and the band is left alone, moving around the shadows and falling on the floor, helpless and tired, without the support of a warm melody.

I picked up the 2015 re-pressings of the first three albums and while the first two were clean this one had a lot of nasty clicks and pops all through Side A that I couldn't get rid of with cleaning. Like some other users have noted, all three of them were a little on the quiet side and did need the volume turned up a little more than usual. It's a shame because the packaging is really good and they make a nice set on the shelf. Another one of those releases where finding a clean copy will be a lottery. Make sure you buy it from somewhere that accepts returns.

never bought a plain reissue ! I had tonight that i might see it was just horrible: no dynamics and a pressing defect. Many background noise even after washing the disc.Plain never again!
  • JoJogar
after terrible 2010 reissue now what about sound quality of this one?

Agree that ALL Plain Recording releases tend to suck-ass. I have all of their Mazzy Star releases-- none are good. Levels are extra low and surface noise extremely excessive-- and uncleanable. This company often uses Rainbo as the presser-- look them up on audio forums-- they're reviled for their schlocky crap quality pressings. Neith Plain nor Rainbo, in my experience, will ever respond to a customer service question. One has to conclude that THEY JUST DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT QUALITY.

the 2015 plain issues of she hangs, so tonight, and among my swan, i think they all are quite nice. haven't heard 2010 issues though
  • Flamekiller
