JR JR, formerly known as Dale Earnhardt Jr. J. is an American indie-pop band from Detroit, Michigan, consisting of Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein. Zott and Epstein met each other while playing in other Detroit music projects. They began recording in Zott's basement in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. was formed in late 2009 by members Joshua Epstein and Daniel Zott. The band also includes drummer Mike Higgins
Dale Earnhardt Jr. s debut album entices the ear with its bubbly melodies and tickles the mind with its clever mix of electronic beats, floating harmonies and organic instrumentation. Joshua Epstein (from the Silent Years) and Daniel Zott concocted these beguiling tracks in a Detroit-area basement studio, lending them a playful homemade feel. A Beach Boys influence is evident in the interweaving of gauzy and abrasive textures on Morning Thought and When I Open My Eyes, while the old-fashioned tunefulness of Simple Girl recalls White Album-era Beatles.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. s dedication to branding has earned them plenty of attention, but on It's a Corporate World, their music too often feels like an afterthought.
Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr had me at hello. Well, it is finally out June 7 and It’s A Corporate World is full of the sparkling sounds we have come to expect after devouring the band’s debut EP and live shows.
However much Dale Earnhardt Jr. s posturing might call their sincerity into question, they do know how to craft a pleasant little pop song. However robust the melodies and intricate the production on It’s a Corporate World may be, the album wants for real substance or innovation. s dedication to branding has earned them plenty of attention, but on It’s a Corporate World, their music too often feels like an afterthought.
On It’s a Corporate World, Detroit duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. make good on the promises made on 2010’s Horsepower EP with an album of bittersweet, electronic indie pop. Filled with layers of vocal harmonies, downtempo drums, and innocent melodies, the pair’s full-length debut makes for an interesting summer record, tempering that carefree summer feeling with an underlying sadness. This makes for a record that’s not so much for the beach as it is for those odd rainy days spent inside, hoping that the weather breaks.
