Album What Hurts the Most - Maxi Single. I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house That don't bother me I can take a few tears now and then and just let 'em out I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while Even though goin' on with you gone still upsets me There are days every now and again I pretend. What hurts the most was being so close And having so much to say (Much to say) And watching you walk away (Walk away) Never knowing what could have been And not seeing that loving you Is what I was trying to do Oh Oh, oh Hey, ey And having so much to say And watching you walk away Never knowing what. could have been And not seeing that loving you Is what I was trying to do. More on Genius. Written By Jeffrey Steele & Steve Robson.

What Hurts the Most" is a song written by American songwriter Jeffrey Steele and English songwriter Steve Robson. Initially recorded by country music artist Mark Wills in 2003 on his album And the Crowd Goes Wild, it was covered by Bellefire a year later. The first version to be released as a single was by pop singer Jo O'Meara in 2005, from the album Relentless.

What hurts the most Was being so close And having so much to say And watching you walk away And never knowing What could have been And not seeing that loving you Is what I was tryin' to do. Not seeing that loving you That's what I was trying to do O. .Lyrics submitted by xjeanbobx. The Rascal Flatts version is a much more sad, heartbroken version. It's the singer expressing their sadness and depression in a very 'sad' way. The Cascada version seems to me, because of the faster pace and the electronic arraignment, that it's more about being sad about what could have been, but moving on. I know, the lyrics are identical, but sometimes different music can make you interpret the lyrics differently. I am going through a difficult break-up as we speak, and songs like this, that are very sad but fast paced, give me a feeling of 'moving on'.

I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out. I'm not afraid to cry. Every once in a while even though goin on with you gone still upsets me. There are days. Every now and again I pretend I'm OK but that's not what gets me. What hurts the most, was being so close. And having so much to say. And watching you walk away.
