Kahimi Karie is a compilation album by Japanese musician Kahimi Karie. The album, a compilation of singles and EP tracks, was released on the Minty Fresh label in the United States in September 1998 as her debut album in the country.
Kahimi Karie's first EP is all sugary pop without the edge that later works have. Here she is still a pouty pop princess, to the left of mainstream JPop no doubt, but not that intriguing: "Candyman" is bag of pixie sticks, and a Lou Reed riff thrown together, "Lolita Go Home," celebrates what it tries to reject. However, "Porque Ta Vas" is closer to her later work, rocking along with the feel of her collaborations with Katerine. For fans of Karie, it might be one of the last releases to pick up.
