I bought the 2 X file version from the Bleep store, and was disappointed. The remixes/re-edits are a mixed bag. A few bits are inspired, and reminded me what a good album Prince Blimey is. Others feel like they just exist to be able to say they made it through the bones of the entire album. But my chief complaint is the transitions, which heavily involve random chatter of people talking from the next room, or half of a phone conversation. These bits distract within the rebuilt tracks, and kill any flow from one segment to the next. Also, as if the dialogue wasn't banal enough the first time, the same bits keep getting repeated across the project. An overused siren sample is a lesser offender, but not much feels fresh by the end of this. Discogs describes the format of this as "Mixed", and that may be accurate in the sense of each 18-minute 'side' being a continuous collage, but don't expect any kind of journey by DJ, Time is better spent taking the original for another spin, or visiting the Sabres' Haunted Dancehall.
