During his career Dolphy recorded with many of the finest musicians of his time and Eric Dolphy: The Complete Prestige Recordings includes the bulk of his recordings as a leader. This superb box set covers the time period of April. 1960 to September, 1961, a time when the incredibly in demand Dolphy recorded enough material to result in the nine discs of this compilation. The title track of the album has Dolphy in fleet form moving at a be-bop pace with somewhat dissonant harmonies. The doubled voices of Dolphy on bass clarinet and Carter's bowed cello opens Dolphy's composition "Serene.

The Complete Prestige Recordings is a post bop music boxset, compilation recording by ERIC DOLPHY released in 1995 on CD, LP/Vinyl and/or cassette. Prestige PRCD-4418-2 (US). Recorded between April 1, 1960 & September 8, 1961.

Eric Allan Dolphy, Jr. (June 20, 1928 – June 29, 1964) was an American jazz alto saxophonist, flutist, and bass clarinetist. On a few occasions, he also played the clarinet, piccolo, and baritone saxophone. Dolphy was one of several ts to gain prominence in the 1960s.

NOTE / IMPORTANT: This version of this Box Set release is a 'Repress' ( i.e. a repressing of the first press with the exact same contents, art work, etc) in order to correct the flawed mastering of the first press which resulted in a Mispress. First press contains the song - "When Lights Are Low" (Disc 8, Track 4), which is repeated again on (Disc 9, Track 2) but is titled "Laura". This Repress corrects that problem.
