The Dick Morrissey Quartet - Here and Now and Sounding Good & Storm Warning! by Dick Morrissey. by Dick Morrissey and Harry South. Acropolis 2CD SET by Ian Hamer, Tubby Hayes, Dick Morrissey, Alan Skidmore (2005-01-31). by Ian Hamer, Tubby Hayes, Dick Morrissey, Alan Skidmore.

Acropolis also found Hamer in the company of saxophonists Tubby Hayes and Dick Morrissey, and the John Coltrane-inspired Alan Skidmore. If the clamorous sound of the late Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers was also audible in Hamer's arrangements, they were delivered with a panache that reflected the British scene's coming-of-age. In 1997, Hamer appeared on Wheeler's atmospheric all-brass album for ECM Records, A Long Time Ago. Though in semi-retirement in Brighton, Hamer led the Sussex Jazz Orchestra and based a demanding rep-ertoire on classics by Wheeler, Hayes, Tracey and himself, and on the legacy of Count Basie's music represented by the Jones-Lewis band's charts. Leading from the front, and inspiring a mixed-ability lineup by a mixture of cajoling and dry wit, he often drew crackling performances from the band.

Tony Crombie Group (featuring Tubby Hayes & Ronnie Scott): Jazz At The Flamingo (CD: Jasmine) This British Modern Jazz TEMPO session from 1956 was specially recorded at the Railway Arms public house next to Decca’s West Hampstead studios to recreate the atmosphere at London’s famous Flamingo Club, then known all over the world as Britain’s leading modernist club. It was regarded as a ‘must’ for every visiting musician or fan from overseas. Led by drummer Tony Crombie, the group features both Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes on tenor-sax. Six long tracks with a running time over 50 minutes  . The remainder of the material comprises music by Tubby Hayes, Stan Tracey, Ian Hamer and Dick Morrissey himself, which sits nicely alongside a few well-chosen standards.
