Synchronicity opens with Big Mind, a murky and introverted overture to Hatikvah’s debut album. Deeply dubby and mellow throughout, washing pads mingle happily with gentile chords and wandering percussion. Set on the sea front it paints a picture of serenity, thought and evaluation – asking questions of the Big Heart and Big Mind, the conection between the two and the balance in their production of sound and soul. Both are present and validated in Big Mind. The album title track, Synchronicity, sings soul from its depths.

Hatikvah's SYNCHONICITY offers deep, dub techno, but with an interesting twist: the addition of vocals. Some of the time, the vocals are spoken, like on the smooth and mellow "Big Mind," but when they're sung, like on the title track, they add a certain soulfulness to the dub reverbs carrying the melody. On the less dub-reliant tracks, like the deep house of "Unforgettable," they become an integral part of the groove. "Modern Times" name checks New York and Chicago house, which is only appropriate for its more upbeat tempo. On the ambient side, "Zen" and "Daedalus" offer up beatless bliss, and even if the vocals on "Beneath" aren't totally on pitch, the track is still plenty awesome. My favorite, however, would be the sweetly melodic, "Introduce Me," which takes the chorus and makes it into a cry from the heart. Synch yourself up to this album.

nothing new here but the music is so well textured i would say listening to this album is like going through a gallery...gallery of sounds...absolutely good... one of the best deep albums of 2010.
