The Beatles' impact on popular music is inestimable. They changed the face of rock & roll, introducing new concepts and techniques again and again throughout their career, influencing both their contemporaries and the next several generations of rock & roll. In the early '60s, when the golden age of Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis had given way to prefabricated teen idols and bland, diluted versions of real rock & roll and R&B, the Beatles' brash, effervescent blend of '50s vintage sounds and bold, electric pop saved the world.

Imagine is the second studio album by John Lennon after his departure from the Beatles. Recorded and released in 1971, the album's musical arrangements are more elaborate compared to the basic, small-group arrangements of his first album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. Imagine is the most popular of Lennon's solo albums and the title track is considered by many to be one of Lennon's finest songs. In 2012, the album was voted 80th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".
Stop putting non Beatles songs on Beatles lists. Imagine isn't a Beatles song, it's a John solo song - westofohio. One of the most beautiful songs ever written. I had it included in the music for my mother's funeral. So many great John Lennon songs to choose from, but in my life is definitely the best. It's strikingly mature for a man in his early to mid twenties. Here is how GREAT the Beatles were. Both "In My Life" and " Day in the Life" are among the greatest rock songs ever written
Born John Winston Lennon in Liverpool, he became involved in the skiffle craze as a teenager. In 1957, he formed his first band, the Quarrymen, which evolved into the Beatles in 1960. They recorded their debut album, Please Please Me, in under 10 hours on 11 February 1963, a day when Lennon was suffering the effects of a cold, which is evident in the vocal on the last song to be recorded that day, "Twist and Shout". The Lennon–McCartney songwriting partnership yielded eight of its fourteen tracks. With a few exceptions, one being the album title itself, Lennon had yet to bring his love of wordplay to bear on his song lyrics, saying: "We were just writing songs. pop songs with no more thought of them than that – to create a sound.
A list of songs by the Beatles which drew criticism from John Lennon. 11, 1963, in which the Beatles recorded most of their first album. The screenplay for A Taste of Honey was also said to have inspired Paul McCartney to write 1967's "Your Mother Should Know. On the Charts: Part of their Hamburg set lists in 1962-63, and was performed seven times for BBC radio, but never released as a single. Lennon's Line: Lennon actually took jabs at the song while on stage with the Beatles, singing "A Waste of Money" behind McCartney's lead vocal. Lennon's Line: "It was literally a nonsense song," Lennon said in 1972. You just take words and you stick them together, and you see if they have any meaning. Some of them do and some of them don't. LET IT BE" From: Let It Be (1970). The History: Though it gave their final album its title, "Let It Be" was actually part of The White Album era.
