Mission of Burma is an American post-punk band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1979. The band was formed by Roger Miller (guitar), Clint Conley (bass), Peter Prescott (drums) and Martin Swope (tape manipulator/sound engineer). Like many of their post-punk contemporaries, Mission of Burma's efforts are largely concerned with extending punk's original vocabulary without losing its essential rebellious spirit.

In 1983, after the release of V. the group disbanded due to Miller's worsening tinnitus, attributed in large part to their notoriously loud live performances-during their farewell tour, Miller took to augmenting his usual small foam earplugs with rifle-range earphones onstage
