Wanda Lavonne Jackson (born October 20, 1937) is a retired American singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist who had success in the mid-1950s and 1960s as one of the first popular female rockabilly singers, and a pioneering rock-and-roll artist. She is known to many as the "Queen of Rockabilly" or the "First Lady of Rockabilly". Jackson mixed country music with fast-moving rockabilly, often recording them on opposite sides of a record.

Wanda Jackson has spent more time on hospital beds than stages this year. The Maud native and Oklahoma City-based rock 'n' roll pioneer has been recovering from a series of knee surgeries after tripping at a Nashville, Tenn. airport late last year. The recent rounds of knee surgery have impacted the timeline of a new Wanda Jackson album. This has been a setback, but I'm still looking forward to the process. The new album is still a work in progress. We'll hopefully have it ready to launch by early next year.

Wanda Jackson is known as the Queen of Rockabilly. Wanda Jackson teamed with Jack White for her latest album, The Party Ain't Over. January 16, 2011, Jackson is a rare and special icon of rock 'n' roll: Known as the Queen of Rockabilly, she's been a pioneer in carving out a place for women in rock.

Wanda Lavonne Jackson can boast to being the pioneer of a genre after identifying her music as rockabilly in the 50s and 60s. Lately she has enjoyed a career revival of sorts as there has been a surge in popularity among rockabilly revivalists in Europe and younger Americana fans so despite nearing her 80th birthday, Wanda continues to tour off and on. Her live schedule is not as gruelling as it was during her heyday yet there is still a good amount of shows for the fans who have stuck by her and those who are new converts to the music
