Jelly Roll Morton is a original new orleans jazz music boxset, compilation recording by JELLY ROLL MORTON released in 1991 on CD, LP/Vinyl and/or cassette. PAM PAMEIJER Duet TrioQuartet LP Jelly Roll Morton 100 Years Butch Thompson JAZZ. Jelly Roll Morton Contents.

Jelly Roll Morton left a pile of recordings and compositions that succeeding generations of musicians have culled over (and will continue to do so) since they first appeared. The New Jazz Wizards have two albums dedicated to Morton's work, and this is the first volume. The group wisely did not select the most common Morton tunes, the ones heard a thousand times already, but less known ones: OIL WELL, TRY ME OUT, THAT'LL NEVER DO, for example. Unfortunately, they play just about everything in a medium or medium-slow tempo, and much of the excitement of Morton's music is lost.
