Notes

This is, to date, the only known high-fidelity source of the soundtrack for this program, Frank Sinatra's 1960 Timex special titled "Welcome Home Elvis", originally broadcast on the American ABC television network on May 12, 1960. The special, officially titled "It's Nice to Go Traveling", was Sinatra's last for the network, and was conceived as a vehicle to welcome Elvis Presley back to America, after his separation from the Army.

There was no soundtrack recording released at the time the program was broadcast, and indeed, the idea of coordinating a deal that included Col. Tom Parker, Frank Sinatra's Hobart Productions, Capitol Records and RCA Records seems mind-boggling, even today.

Upon review of the material contained on the disc, it appears to be a work-part produced from a tape copy of the program's soundtrack-- notably, the master videotape was wiped by ABC back in the 1970's, and there is currently no known direct magnetic tape copy of the soundtrack in either the Presley or Sinatra archives. While there have been various audio and video releases of the material over the years, all have derived from the surviving well-worn kinescope film prints of the program, with a correspondingly low-fidelity soundtrack.

Material missing from this recording includes all of the Timex commercials, featuring pitchman John Cameron Swayze, and two numbers by the Tom Hansen Dancers, one of which was danced to the Nutty Squirrels' recording of "Uh Oh, Pt. 2"

This disc is a 12" hand-cut acetate recording, with typewritten paper labels. There is, however, little that is known about the company that cut this disc-- other recordings cut by the company exist, but the recording service appears to have been a private (or at least fairly small) for-hire outfit that may not have operated for long.
