Take Me Home Country Roads. A3. Make The World Go Away. A4. Kiss An Angel Good Morning. The Jimmy Sturr Band With Special Guest The Jordanaires - Pure Country ‎(LP, Album). Starr Records (2). LP 571.

Exciting music with jimmy sturr and his 10 piece orchestra with special guest bobby vinton. a wide range of great tunes that will keep your toe tappin' and want to make you get up and dance. Genre: Folk: Modern Folk. Now, 14 Grammy Awards later, the big band is still primarily a polka band although its repertoire includes songs from rock ‘n’ roll, country, Cajun and western swing works also. Special kudos to those key band members who have been with Jimmy for over two decades: Johnny Karas (tenor sax, vocals), Eric Parks (trumpet), Dennis Coyman (drums), and Frank Urbanovitch (fiddle, vocals). What They Do: This hard-working and prolific band tours extensively and has appeared in some very prestigious venues. The Jordanaires incorporate their fine background vocals into the mix. The Bottomline: Another excellent production of lively, upbeat, infectious and danceable music.

The Jordanaires were an American vocal quartet that formed as a gospel group in 1948. They are known for providing background vocals for Elvis Presley, in live appearances and recordings from 1956 to 1972. The group has also worked in the recording studio, on stage, and on television with many other country and rock and roll artists.

James W. Sturr, Jr. is an American polka musician, trumpeter, clarinetist, saxophonist and leader of Jimmy Sturr & His Orchestra. His recordings have won 18 out of the 24 Grammy Awards given for Best Polka Album. Sturr's orchestra is on the Top Ten List of the All-Time Grammy Awards, and has acquired more Grammy nominations than anyone in the history of musical polka awards.

The JIMMY STURR BAND in the '90s is to polka fans what Benny Goodman was to the swing crowd in 1937 or what Dizzy Gillespie stood for with the boppers ten years later. Simply, Sturr has created quite a stir. Jimmy and the band attract crowds of screaming, adoring fans wherever their travels take them. This tremendous popularity has caused the Jimmy Stun Band to be voted "The Polka Band In The Country" for the past 10 years and their recordings have earned both "Album Of The Year" and "Song Of The Year" status. We hope this special Christmas album will bring the happiness and joy of Jimmy's music into your home for the festive season.

Guest vocalists include the Jordanaires (who provide backing vocals throughout the disc) and the legendary Bobby Vinton, and the album features a nice mix of old-fashioned novelty numbers ("Give Me a Kiss (Daj Mi Buzi)," "Roll Out the Barrel One More Time"), and zippy instrumentals ("Accordions on Fire," "Monopol"). There are even some hints of Sturr's famous musical eclecticism: note the distinctly Western swing-flavored "Miss Molly" and the subtle mariachi inflections on "Wake Me Up Early in the Morning. "Jimmy" Sturr, Jr. is an American polka musician, t/saxophonist and leader of Jimmy Sturr & His Orchestra. When touring, the band rides in Jimmy's forty-five foot customized tour bus, previously owned by Billy Ray Cyrus.
