Much of the material on (Electropunk to Technopop 1978 – 1985) will already be familiar to longstanding fans of the band, its use mostly derived from the way it traces their creative arc over this period. Watson departed in 1981, which may be the reason for the gap in material covered here-it spans ‘78-’81, then picks up again with a clutch of material from ‘83-’85. Compiled by the group's Richard H. Kirk, this squeezes 19 of CV's finest 1978-1985 moments on one disc and also provides a service to more serious fans by including 7" versions of several Some Bizzare-era singles. The 1983/1987 disc used the 12" versions.

Cabaret Voltaire’s new compilation is out now in Germany, and comes out Monday in the rest of Europe and july 1st in the USA. 7885 is a brilliant collection of singles, rarities and B-sides produced between 1978-1985 via Mute. The compilation begins with tracks from 1978 to 1981, when CVs lineup was Richard H Kirk, Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson and the releases were published through Rough Trade Records. In the years 1983 to 1985, Watson had left and CV then the band published on the legendary Some Bizarre label.
