I Predict 1990 is the title of the fourth release and third full-length album by singer-songwriter Steve Taylor. Lyrically, the album explores actions that exploit others to various ends from multiple perspectives. CCM magazine found that the overall theme is that the ends never justify the means. It was released as a one-off on Myrrh Records instead of Sparrow. Taylor has said that the album's title was meant as a parody of a Lester Sumrall TV program and book, I Predict 1986.

It's small surprise the Christian community all but disowned Taylor after songs like "I Blew up the Clinic Real Good" and "Since I Gave up Hope I Feel a Lot Better. The songs on I Predict 1990 don't look for easy answers - they rarely look for answers at all - and they're often unsettling. But half of Taylor's point is that life rarely gives easy answers. The other half is in the final song: "Harder to Believe than Not T.

In barely three years, Steve Taylor had cut an EP, two full-length albums, and a short live album. He was known throughout the Christian community (and to some degree, outside of it) as a young, witty rock star who combined clever lyrics with an ability to turn his satire on targets within and outside the church. However, by 1986, Steve was ready to take a slightly darker approach to his music and recorded the album I Predict 1990. Finally, after a year's delay, I Predict 1990 was released by Myrrh Records in 1987. The album starts off with one of the most controversial songs in Christian music history, "I Blew Up the Clinic Real Good," where Steve sings from the point of the view of a disgruntled ice cream truck driver who wants to bomb an abortion clinic because he is afraid a lack of kids will eventually push him out a job.
