I was so excited about the new album that I reached out to Princess Freesia and through Skype we conducted an awesome interview, that is until the man himself showed up and my excitement level went through the roof! On this podcast of The Soul Brother Show - The Home of Heavy Soul and Raw Funk, we are going international as we feature music from Reel People, Omar, Martine Girault, and Wonderlush to name a few. As always, sit back, relax, and enjoy. Tracklist: Soulpersona and Princess Freesia - Analog  . Soulpersona and Princess Freesia featuring Carl Hudson - Sunset Reprise.

Great lovely fun music for all people of the world :-)

Review by Blues & Soul Magazine For lovers of soul which has that distinct 80's vibe, and by that I mean; the 'sweet and solid vocal' of the SOS Band, the 'pitch perfect' of Patrice Rushen, the 'sass' of Shalamar, the 'beat' of a Jones Girls track and even the 'arrangement' of irrepressible Incognito. If you like these comparisons, then look no further, as this stylish platter is definitely for one for you...Yes, it has a satisfyingly polished sheen to it and some pretty tough grooves, such as "Analog", a propulsive number which is well suited for action on the dancefloor (like so many tracks here)."Sold", carries on the discofied doodling amongst some sublime sax interjections. These allow Princess Freesia to stretch her rather superb vocal even further...she has a distinct sound, combining energy with sexiness - her free flowing melodic approach, is not to put it too mildly, is VERY pleasing on the ear. Seems like this talented duo are carving out a rather precious niche for themselves. A highly polished affair! The rather suggestive "Goodness Me (So Hot)" keeps the party vibes ticking over, a lovesexy paean to "Mr Big Shot" (someone in Dangelo's league?) some cheesy Americanised talk might put you off, but hey, it's a FUN TUNE sliced with humour and sass and maybe one for the gals to relate too!"Give It Up" starts with that floaty sax again, which is always good in my book, the intro gives way to a slowburning heavy grinding groove that organically quotes (very subtley) KC & The Sunshine's classic. A half cover / interpretation mixed with the duo's own clever songwriting skills. A unique track and a clever homage to a past disco master. Some light relief next and a breather comes in the shape "Sunset Reprise", a breezy instrumental which sees whizzkid Carl Hudson, temporarily out of his funk keyboard / app laboratory, laying down some tasty synth riffs and licks. The understated disco, jazz-funk of the backing, provides the perfect canvas for Hudson to do 'his thang', that he's so well known for (especially in Zebranos London, where this type of fluent and effortless noodling knows no bounds every Wednesday night!)"Polyester" sees some incisive social commentary going on, a timely track highlighting Freesia's fast flowing lyrical and observational ideas, it sinks its hooks into you and you have no choice but to hear what time it is...so listen up!However, love is never far away with this girl and she's back (hilariously rhyming, under the table with Clarke Gable, ingenious!) no she doesn't make it to the bedroom, but her lusty cries are right on the money, giving Barry White a run for his money...gymnastic to a 'T', she must be willing and able, as love is about to creep in under the table (listeners please don't try this at home!)Some classic jazz-funk with some tasty rock riffing guitarwise is up next, courtesy of Marlon McClain, who brilliantly fuses the edginess of Eddie Hazell and the flashness of Prince. Two and half minutes of sheer indulgence. Love it! (just a tad higher in the mix would have been nice though...)So with blood drawn and male yang energy exorcised, it's back to the diva diversions and special guest Jocelyn Brown, who duets with Freesia, adding her exceptional sauce to this 'Thrillerish', but ultimately choice tune - this added dynamic is just the ticket to keep us all happy and still on the ball. Quality tunes spew forth at a rate of knots, it's truly remarkable!I'd say the only thing missing from this album is a humdinger of a ballad, but that's a minor grumble...suffice to say, the drums and funky bass which underpin most of these gems is absolutely first rate. The arrangements leave the right amount of creative space, while the whole production has a luxurious soul / funk infused feel.Freesia is a funny and clever storyteller too...with the album's best moments, and there are many, coming thick and fast. They've updated a golden age with their own twists, for which they should be applauded. File under 'classic'.
