Eric Dolphy - Outward Bound flac album

Outward Bound, recorded on 1 April 1960, is Eric Dolphy's first date as a leader, containing six titles. A seventh piece from the same session, "April Fool", is only added on the 2006 RVG Remasters series (Prestige PRCD-30083-2). The first issues of the album on the label New Jazz have a cover painting by a friend of Dolphy's, Richard Jennings, who signed his work "The Prophet" (Prophet (22)).
I remember the sessions well,I remember how the musicians wanted to sound, and I remember their reactions to the playback This album was a foreshadowing of what lay in store on following albums released by Eric Dolphy.

Multi-reedsman Eric Dolphy literally played it relatively safe on OUTWARD BOUND, his 1960 debut album, crafting more of a particularly explosive - and sometimes very humorous - hard bop set than anything predictive of his later avant-garde efforts
