Lorna Jenny Hval’s conceptual takes on collective and individual gender identities and sociopolitical constructs landed Apocalypse, girl on dozens of year end lists and compelled writers everywhere to grapple with the age-old, yet previously unspoken, question: What is Soft Dick Rock? After touring for a year and earning her second Nordic Prize nomination, as any perfectionist.

Blood Bitch " Track Info. Blood Bitch Jenny Hval.

Album · 2016 · 10 Songs. The avant garde Norwegian throws open a ghostly sonic sketchbook on this complex sixth album. Taking vampirism, gore, and femininity as her stated themes, Hval uses everything from percussive panting (the compellingly sinister In The Red ) to distant, discordant horns ( Untamed Region ) to conjure challenging, dark dreamscapes. Thankfully, she never forgets the tunes. The Great Undressing is a propulsive art-pop jewel, and Secret Touch pits Hval’s brittle falsetto against hissing, addictive trip hop.

Her fourth album under her own name, Blood Bitch - a title that calls to mind a red-soaked Carrie - uses vampire and menstrual imagery to express different kinds of hunger and purging in scary, sexy, raw, and sophisticated ways

Blood Bitch sees Hval re-united with Lasse Marhaug, with the two sharing production duties. Marhaug, is arguably more in his element here with Hval embracing noise and drone more than she has on any previous record. It makes Blood Bitch an interesting step forward from previous record Apocalypse, girl. I love her weirdness, but she could probably produce a sublime conventional pop album if she wanted; Blood Bitch gets pretty close. Also, 10/10 album art and title. 2. 4mo. thethirdverse. NR. even though songwriting is one of this album's strongsuits, it fails to hit its own anticipated high points or "revelations". i was honestly waiting for some kind of breakthrough this entire album. it's mostly good stuff though.

Jenny Hval (born 11 July 1980) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter, record producer, musician, and novelist. Sacred Bones messed up on this release. I pre-ordered the Blood version and it cam in the silkscreened jacket / wax stamp but it is clear with red swirls. I have heard there is a solid Red version but it doesn't come with the jacket / stamp. Seems like a pretty big mix up to me.

Anyone looking to sell the blood red release, PM me please!

Where is this numbered? I picked up a copy at a show she did a couple weeks ago. I was told it was a limited edition red copy. It is solid red but I don't see it numbered on the wax itself, the inner sleeve, or the outer sleeve.

Weird. Mine seems to have the normal cover but it is on bright red wax. Tbh, I only bought it instead of the clear one at the show because I find lining up tracks on and cleaning clear vinyl to be a pain.

There was a LTD edition cover that is numbered to 300 that was supposed to be on blood red vinyl. However some clear with red spots were mixed in with those and it sounds like blood red ones are being sold at shows. So who knows lol

Does anyone know if this LP includes the official lyrics?
  • Agarus
I ordered this version from Sacred Bones, it still has the slipcover and wax seal but my vinyl is clear with red spots, not solid red. Was this a different release or a factory mistake in the vinyl?
  • Jare
I emailed Sacred Bones, they said there was a mix up at the plant and that some clear pink with red swirls were mixed in with the LTD Blood Red versions.
  • Ttexav
That same thing happened to me. I have number 293 out of 300 but it's clear with red drops in it.
  • MarF
Maybe You got one of the rare ones that included menstruation blood? Keep it save!

There's also a Vinyl Me, Please variation which is something similar to what the person above received, which hasn't been added to Discogs yet. Very cool mistake on Sacred Bones' part. Love the slip cover this time around, in comparison to the incredibly disappointing Apocalypse, girl "deluxe" edition cover.
