Ruby Keeler's Shiver Shiver is a short and erratically interesting LP of lo-fi Philadelphia pop. In the opening track, "Midland: Next Two Exits," Jeremy Baddock's Luna-like vocals skulk around tightly plucked guitar chords and a muffled rhythm section, sounding like a lost Mark Kozelek demo if he had ever covered the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" instead of something by AC/DC. Elsewhere, the album focuses on up-tempo tracks and things hold up less well. Stumbling into post-Pavement status quo indie rock, "Buick of Julie's Heart" and.

Recorded with Brian McTear at Miner Street Studios, the now hard-to-find album contains some moments of great potential. Midland: Next Two Exits is full of milky waves of lush guitar work reminiscent of Luna and Galaxie 500 while Fireside is a sweetly romantic take on Terror Twilight-era Pavement. In the same year, the band would return to the studio to record demos for a planned sophomore album
