Wanda Jackson - Let's Have e Party!

Wanda Jackson on Why She Had to Retire From Touring. I wanted to work right up until the point that I couldn’t. That point has been reached, says the Queen of Rockabilly. By. Jonathan Bernstein. Despite her decreasing health, Jackson is vibrant, energized and excited about her future endeavors, which include an album of original material produced by Joan Jett, as well as a follow-up memoir she’s currently writing. And she remains committed to trying to make the occasional one-off performance, health permitting.

The albums discography of Wanda Jackson, an American recording artist, consists of forty-five studio albums, one international studio album, seven tribute and cover albums, four live albums, twenty-one compilation albums, and two box sets. In 1954 at age sixteen, Jackson signed with Decca Records as a country music artist. The label did not issue a record until the 1962 compilation Lovin' Country Style, six years after Jackson left Decca.

Saw Wanda Jackson for the third time last night at the El Club in Detroit. We drove 3 hours to see her this time. Wanda was nice enough to sign one of my Wanda Jackson album covers I brought with me and she also signed my concert ticket. I will treasure them always and will frame them and display them proudly. Thank you so much, Wanda! I just opened a small cafe - record store in Howard City, MI last year. I play Wanda's records for people all the time. Some people say "who is that singing, I really like her".

It has been a wild ride. Thank you all for all the years of continued fandom and support. This is not the end, just the beginning of a new chapter. Born in 1937, by the time she graduated high school in Oklahoma City, Jackson had hosted a local radio show for years. Her stylistic range included pop, country and rockabilly and her friend and rock-mentor Elvis Presley encouraged her to follow his lead
