Reggae George passed away on Sunday February 5th. Although being a fantastic singer, Reggae George was one of the true underrated reggae legends. We’ve Been Trodding (?) King Kush. He produced George’s sophomore album Fight On My Own, a Showcase album that featured backing by the High Times Band and the Roots Radics. In 2014 and 2015 he worked on a new album in Ed Robinson’s Studio in Brooklyn NY, E2 Recording, which led to the release of the little known The George of Reggae set. The Trojan label have a crucial album called 'Mix Up' in their vaults that's long overdue a re-issue. This mix opens with the steppers repatriation anthem 'Fig Roots', onto some heavy early dancehall vibes; then all 6 songs from the 1984 'Fight On My Own' album in extended fashion, before coming full circle back to 1978 and the Niney-produced single 'Trodding Along'. All tracks feature in discomix style, where the vocal track melts into its dub mix everytime.
