Jerzy Stanisław Milian (April 10, 1935 – March 7, 2018) was a jazz musician, painter, composer and vibraphonist. At sixteen he graduated from the Secondary School of Music in Poznan. His teachers were Wolfram Heicking and Bogusław Schaeffer. In the years 1953-1955 formed a quintet with Stanisław Chwiłkowski, Ryszard Czaplicki, Jerzy Piątek and Stanisław Lisek.

The crowning of the joint activity of Milian, Jacek Bednarek (double bass) and Grzegorz Gierłowski (drums) was the recording of an album which was at the same time a debut LP of the leader. Jerzy Milian Trio consisted of Milian on vibe, Jacek Bednarek on bass and Grzegorz Gierlowski on drums. Milian was a key member of the Polish jazz scene that also included Krzystof Komeda and Tomasz Stanko. A good friend of Krzyzstof Komeda and a member of Komeda’s sextet of the 1950s, Milian made his name through a series of international performances that stunned concertgoers. Bazaar' is known as Milian’s masterpiece.
