Gothic Voices is a United Kingdom-based vocal ensemble specialising in repertoire from the 11th to the 15th century but also performing contemporary music, particularly pieces with medieval associations. The group was originally formed in 1980 by the scholar and musician Christopher Page. Gothic Voices has gone on to record 23 albums for the Hyperion and Avie record labels, three of which have won the prestigious Gramophone Award given by The Gramophone magazine. 1993 - The Voice in the Garden: Spanish Songs and Motets, 1480–1550 Re-released Jan 2009 on Helios CDH55298 (orig. 1994 - The Spirits of England and France, Vol. 1 - Music for Court and Church from the later Middle Ages Re-released Feb 2007 on Helios CDH55281 (orig.

Gothic Voices' collection of music by French and English composers written between the mid-fourteenth and the mid-fifteenth centuries is loosely organized around the association of English noblemen established by King Edward III, known as the Knights of the Garter. It includes ballades, carols, and motets from composers from both sides of the Channel, including such well-known figures as John Dunstable, Leonel Power, and Philippe de Vitry, as well as many excellent anonymous works.

Christopher Page himself considers two recordings from the early 1990s (The Medieval Romantics and Lancaster and Valois) to represent a watershed in the life of the ensemble, when they acquired the services of two baritones whose voices so elegantly fit the group's sound. More prominently, it was also at this time that his "experiments" with vocalization of untexted chanson lines came to fruition.

Christopher Page, FBA (born 1952) is A British expert on medieval music, instruments and performance practice, together with the social and musical history of the guitar in England from the sixteenth century to the nineteenth. He has written numerous books regarding medieval music. He is currently a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, where he is Professor of Medieval Music and Literature, and Professor of Music at Gresham College.

Plus solo songs and harp music with Andrew Lawrence-King, harp, and vocal soloists including stunning bass Robert Macdonald. The music & the recording. This recording highlights Senfl's mastery of the many musical styles within which he worked. For the bass songs cornetts and sackbuts take the upper voices leaving the tune at the bottom of the texture to the soloist; the three songs recorded here follow familiar themes of unrequited love and the chase.
