I Shall Be Released" is a 1967 song, written by Bob Dylan. The Band recorded the first officially released version of the song for their 1968 debut album, Music from Big Pink, with Richard Manuel singing lead vocals, and Rick Danko and Levon Helm harmonizing in the chorus.

I Shall Be Released was written by Bob Dylan in 1967, though the first officially-released track was recorded by The Band for their debut album, The Big Pink in 1968. The song was performed at The Band’s farewell concert in 1976 with Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Ringo Starr, among others. Dylan recorded two different versions of the song. The first version was made in collaboration with the Band and was eventually released on The Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3. The second version was released in 1971 on Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits Vol. II. The lyrics here are taken from the latter

We Shall Overcome is an album by American politician Bernie Sanders, recorded and released in 1987. The album combined folk music and spoken word, narrated by Sanders. He was the mayor of Burlington, Vermont, at the time of the album's release. The album was remastered and rereleased in 2014 and gained wide exposure during Sanders' presidential campaign.

II album that his version was officially released. The Band, who backed up Dylan on his first electric tour, recorded it for Music From Big Pink, which was their first album. Their version is the most well-known. This song could be either an anti-death penalty composition or a metaphoric attempt by Dylan at looking forward to being released from Hell on Earth - possibly awaiting the "release" from the hell of being an innocent man wrongly imprisoned Between 1967 and 1970 the Memphis-area quintet had ten Top 100 hits; their two biggest hits were "The Letter" ( for 4 weeks in 1967) and "Cry Like A Baby" ( for 2 weeks in 1968).

Nina Simone (Eunice Kathleen Waymon) I Shall Be Released lyrics: They say everything can be replaced, They say every distance is not n. .Artist: Nina Simone ( Eunice Kathleen Waymon). Also performed by: Bob Dylan. Album: To Love Somebody (1969). Translations: French, Indonesian, Turkish. A A. I Shall Be Released. They say everything can be replaced. They say every distance is not near. So I remember every face.

They say evrything can be replaced, Yet evry distance is not near. So I remember evry face Of evry man who put me here. I see my light come shining From the west unto the east. Any day now, any day now, I shall be released. They say evry man needs protection, They say evry man must fall. Yet I swear I see my reflection Some place so high above this wall. Standing next to me in this lonely crowd, Is a man who swears he’s not to blame.
