Beyond the Gates Lyrics. She told me to wait Now I'm alone outside the gate My eyes are bleeding visions fade away. The sun came to late Time is here to seal my fate In pain inside the purgatory flames. Now open gate let me in, let me stay I'm turning away from the light of the day. I'll never go back, no I never will return The flames are burning still inside my soul Inside my soul. Joacim Cans : Lead and Backing Vocals. Metal Mike Chlasciak : Lead & Rhythm Guitars. Stefan Elmgren : Lead & Rhythm Guitars, Keyboards. Mat Sinner : Bass & Backing Vocals.
Although Hammerfall's vocalist's solo album, Beyond the Gates holds some key differences to Cans' band. Musically there is more depth in the songcraft and the melodies are far from cheesy happy metal. Cans penned most of these songs when he was going through a bad time in his life and therefore the melodies and particularly the lyrics are a lot darker and the songs refrain from cheesy sing-along choruses. Cans hasn't written the entire album on his own though. Beyond the Gates has been getting some really good feedback so far and somehow I don't think this will be the last disc we'll hear from Joacim Cans. And if his future releases are going to be as good as this one, they're certainly more than welcome. I see Force of Evil's self-titled disc is also recommended on this page and I fully agree with that.
For all their intensity, those old-school headbangers were undeniably musical and intricate, and the same goes for Cans. Melody and aggression are equally important on Beyond the Gates, which has a real sense of craftsmanship and is never about brutality for the sake of brutality. Cans, Beyond The Gates. Beyond the Gates, Bergen, Hordaland.
Beyond the Gates is the second album by death metal band Possessed. It took a different direction from their debut, Seven Churches. Compared to Seven Churches, Beyond the Gates has a more technical feeling and, due to poor production, a muddy sound. Reception was mixed, with some very disappointed by the album for the sound and production, while others were happy with the new direction of the band.
