A Room with a View is a 1908 novel by English writer E. M. Forster, about a young woman in the restrained culture of Edwardian era England. Set in Italy and England, the story is both a romance and a humorous critique of English society at the beginning of the 20th century. Merchant Ivory produced an award-winning film adaptation in 1985.

Ol' Man River Song Lyrics. Dere's an ol' man called de Mississippi. Dat's de ol' man dat I'd like to be! What does he care if de world's got troubles? What does he care if de land ain't free? Ol' man river, Dat ol' man river. An' dem dat plants'em. is soon forgotten, But ol'man river, He jes keeps rollin'along. You an'me, we sweat an' strain
A Room with a View was the first novel Forster started, but it was actually published in 1908, after he’d written and published two other books. One of them, Where Angels Fear to Tread (1905), is often paired with Room, since it also takes place in Italy and deals with some similar issues, such as the British tourist abroad, albeit in a more serious fashion. In comparison with the latter text and others, A Room with a View stands out as the author’s most lighthearted and optimistic work, and his dry wit and keen, observant eye make for the ultimate intelligent romantic comedy . Don’t forget the parasol. Also, imagine that it’s 1908 and that she’s deciding between the man she loves and the support of her family, friends, and basically the whole world. Then ask the question, Why should I care? again. Are you still wondering?
A Room With a View opens with Two Englishwomen touring Europe. The older one is poor, bossy, old fashioned and a great upholder of what is proper. In A Room With a View, the young Lucy is torn between the demands of two men she encounters in Florence. The wealthy Cecil Vyse can offer her everything in terms of material wealth and comfort, while the poor, but passionate George Emerson represents all that finds echoes in her heart. Other interesting characters like Rev Beebe, the Miss Alans (who are never seen apart), Miss Lavish a pretentious writer and the liberal, large hearted Mr. Emerson make A Room With a View an interesting and memorable read

Anna is working in London sales office of Luffthansa, the big German airline. She is going to be in London for at least two years. The reason she is not happy is that she cannot find a room of her own. She has looked at many flats but they have all been so expensive. At the moment she is staying with a cousin in Putney, a suburb of London. The two girls do not get on well together. Anna: Excuse me. I’m not quite sure how you say this in English. Do you say : I want to let a room or I want to rent a room? Girl: Well, that depends. Have you got a room, o. nna: No, I want on. irl: Then you want to rent a room. You rent a room from someone, you let a room to someone. And such a marvelous view! Doesn’t the river look beautiful when the sun’s shining on it? I do like to live near the water.
