Louis Armstrong (1901–1971), nicknamed Satchmo or Pops, was an American trumpeter, composer, singer and occasional actor who was one of the most influential figures in jazz and in all of American popular music. His career spanned five decades, from the 1920s to the 1960s, and different eras in jazz.

Oliver called upon Armstrong in 1922, and in 1924 moved to New York to play with an orchestra and continued recording with artists such as Sidney Bechet, and Bessie Smith. But he finally started on his own in 1925 moving back to Chicago to start his own band later named the Hot Seven. This time period between 1925-1928 Armstrong defined many different iconic jazz ideas. His iconic ideas included the introduction of scat singing in the song "Heebie Jeebies
