The Freedom Sessions. A nice companion piece to Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, The Freedom Sessions offers seven early versions of songs from that album in a more stripped-down form. Also included is a cover of Tom Waits' "Ol' 5. Track Listing.
Afterglow is the fifth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan. Released on 4 November 2003 on Nettwerk in Canada and 4 November 2003 on Arista Records in the United States, it was her first album of new material in six years, after the success of Surfacing and the Lilith Fair festival. Unlike past albums where she went to an isolated cottage to write the songs, she wrote the songs for Afterglow in her family home mainly before the birth of her child

The way to think about most of the songs on The Freedom Sessions is MTV Unplugged. Looking over the course of her career that has transpired over the ensuing 15 years, it stands out that this was the only time that she went for the stripped down acoustic sound without the signature production that makes her music so infectious. Surfacing and subsequent releases would stay the course of what preceded The Freedom Sessions. This is indeed a singular Sarah McLachlan experience for her fans. Yes, you could argue that Live Acoustic fits the description, but it is a pale approximation of The Freedom.
