Polly Jean Harvey is an English singer-songwriter. Her latest album "Let England Shake" received numerous accolades; it was named "Album of the Year" for 2011 and won the coveted Mercury Prize. Indeed, Harvey performed the entire concert in this retro white garb, looking like a character from that scary d in the horror film "The Others. But when she sang, all the cobwebs were blown away. She eventually returned for one last encore, closing with "Horses in My Dreams," one of only two songs from her prize-winning album "Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea" to feature in the set. The 12-track album contains 10 original pieces of instrumental music as well as two new songs written by Harvey and sung by Gillian Anderson and Lily James. Harvey’s score for All About Eve, is performed by herself, James Johnston and Kenrick Rowe, and uses Franz Liszt’s ‘Liebesträume’ (a musical element of Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s original 1950s classic film) as a musical touchstone, exploring the more somber and deeply psychological aspects of the story.
Polly Jean Harvey MBE (born 9 October 1969) is an English musician, singer-songwriter, writer, poet and composer. Primarily known as a vocalist and guitarist, she is also proficient with a wide range of instruments. Harvey began her career in 1988 when she joined local band Automatic Dlamini as a vocalist, guitarist and saxophone player. The band's frontman, John Parish, would become her long-term collaborator.
