All the great songs and lyrics from the "The Things I Notice Now" album ont he Web's largest and most authoritative lyrics resource. Thomas Richard "Tom" Paxton (born October 31, 1937) is an American folk singer and singer-songwriter who has been writing, performing and recording music for fifty years. In 2009, Paxton received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

For most, Tom Paxton is one of those '60s singer/songwriters who had a couple of big songs. But those were the merest tip of a very large iceberg, as Paxton's longtime friend and admirer Anne Hills knows. To celebrate the man's 75th birthday she's released this, a personal selection that has the approval of Paxton, who appears on four of the tracks, making them into duets. It's a strategy that works well, and Hills doesn't copy the original arrangements, but makes them very much her own, whether with the jazzy touches of "The Things I Notice Now" or the.

This set brings together five of the six LPs Paxton recorded and released with Elektra Records between 1964 and 1972 (the sixth, New Songs Old Friends, released in 1972, was a retrospective live set), 1964’s Ramblin’ Boy, 1966’s Outward Bound, 1968’s Morning Again, 1969’s The Things I Notice Now, and 1970’s Tom Paxton 6. The end.

Paxton finally broke into the album pop charts with The Things I Notice Now in the summer of 1969, and also charted with Tom Paxton 6 in the spring of the following year. His song "Whose Garden Was This", an environmentalist anthem written for the first Earth Day, was later recorded by John Denver and became the title track of Denver's 1970 album. Paxton released How Come the Sun in 1971. The album gave him his highest chart ranking in the . but it only reached number 120 and his next album, Peace Will Come (1972), barely even reached the charts. He soon returned to New York City and the Long Island town of East Hampton before moving to the Washington, .

Anne Hills: The Things I Notice Now. Steve Horowitz. Hills doesn’t walk the familiar path by recording the Grammy Award winner for Lifetime Achievement’s best known songs. Anne Hills grew up as a teen in the '60s and '70s with the music of Tom Paxton as a strong influence. During the '80s, she recorded with folk legends Paxton and Bob Gibson under the rubric Best of Friends
