earliest concert bookings leading up to first album Filth Hounds of Hades.
Their 1982 debut album, Filth Hounds of Hades, was positively received by both punk and metal fans as well as most critics, regarded now as one of the best albums of the NWOBHM movement. As was the case with many other bands of the era, Tank was never able to build on the promise shown by their first album.

It's worth noting TANK's Filth Hounds Of Hades has a very anarchistic and jocose anthem-like feel to its songs, at times kicking the listener in the face with the impact of a steel boot! This is the diagnosis I've reached for most of them, the next few in particular. Firstly, you've got the quick (but so powerful) duo of said tracks "Turn Your Head Around" and "Heavy Artillery". The album begins with a chest beating chant, almost throwing you off before the chords of "Shellshock" kick into overdrive. Honestly, you would have half expected Lemmy to begin his tobacco eroded vocals at this point (Algy Ward was also a multi-tasking bassist/vocalist), the musical similarities are so strong.
Disc 1 "Filth Hounds of Hades". The booklet contains incorrect lyrics.
Indeed, on Filth Hounds of Hades, Tank showcases a knack for disguising sarcasm under 'geezer worthy' semantics and unpretentious, "raw" instrumentation. and while no one dared to look, they started diggin' all around to find a good spot for a single bone they chose to save. our trip bellow is predetermined after all the mess we've caused, why waste our time on the meanwhile you dry e"". I reckon the old boatman fancies the coin, but I'd bet that when the time comes he'll let the pack in for free - being flattered 'n' all by the "dedication" and the bone they've saved for toll.
