High Country reveals a more mellow side of The Sword, with less aggressive psychadelic metal, but dare I say, more Tame Impala-feeling pop? There's some folk metal feeling to it too, but above all else, there seems to be a playful side of The Sword, and thus, a fun album to enjoy. 78. I'm by means a metal fan. But, with The Sword I find a sound that invites me to listen and holds my attention without further alienating me from the genre

Album · 2016 · 10 Songs. The spaced-out, heavy-riffing throwbacks hit the front porch. A stripped-down, mostly acoustic take on the Hawkwind boogie of 2015’s High Country, Low Country proves that its source material was more than the sum of its fuzz pedals. The simpler arrangements lend the band’s sound a rustic edge, making songs like Mist & Shadow and The Dreamthieves not just companions to their originals, but their own, estimable beasts. Low Country The Sword.
On High Country, The Sword decided to create a much more mellow album where their original influences take a backseat in favor of drugged out stoner rock. Gone are the groove-inducing, energetic riffs and epic scale. Everything now seems more modest, going for less bombast than before. The Sword definitely sounds different then before. The guitars traded in their previous chunkiness and heft for a more fuzzy tone. The drums trot alongside the riffs, creating a much more loose sound in comparison to the pounding, epic percussion that the band exhibited on previous records
