DCLXVI: To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth is the fourth album by the Swedish metal band Entombed, released in 1997. DCLXVI is 666 in Roman numerals. The cover art features a statuette of the Aztec god Mictlantecuhtli. This album shows a continuation of the death 'n' roll sound previously established on 1993's "Wolverine Blues", but eschews most traces of hardcore and traditional death metal in favor of a stoner rock and garage rock influenced sound.

I wanna ride, gun in my hand, God on my side I've tried, so far no good More than a little misunderstood. Love the fall No control They say "It takes one to know one" Well I know them all They say "stupid is as stupid does" Guess you'll always be if you ever was. Entombed's Full Fourth Album, DCLXVI (Roman Numeral for 666): To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth. marked Entombed's departure from Death Metal and went for, what they call, Death 'n Roll. This had a double-sided effect of gaining mainstream attention, but losing many fans who were once loyal to their death metal roots. Am 22 Nov 2014 veröffentlicht. But Entombed themselves began to include more rock and punk music influences on their third album already, the legendary death 'n' roll platter 'Wolverine Blues'. It is very hard to get head around the fact, especially now, about 13 and a half years after its release, that 'To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth' is actually Entombed's fourth album. the wilderness period set in, a period in which some feel the band is still wandering, though I would argue in favor of Uprising marking a sharp ascent out of the morass that is this record and its even more abominable follow-up.

This, just as Metallica's Black Album earlier (appropriately black since it was sadly boring), was a sign that metal became more mainstream and people like me who was there from the start rather listened to heavy rockbands like Soundgarden instead...this album I always saw as the first Hellacopters album, (kinda like what Slipknot's Joey J did with Murderdolls), and just like Metallica they changed their logo these infamous years...not one so called Death Metal song on it (or my own generation's special genre Thrash)...and that's why it took me 20 yrs to hear the full album, says it all, and it was just as I thoughtI saw the Damn Deal Done video when it came out and thought it had a nice heavy rock groove a la Led Zeppelin and that's really all you need from this album. (All signs were in that video what to expect from the album with the stripped drumkit to one bassdrum and one tomtom which guys like Tommy Lee also did when playing more basic music)Well I guess that's what happens when you call a record 666...then "Rome burns down" since it's Neros number, don't believe the satanic kiddie talesAnd if the new Entombed will keep this up, instead of the style on the first two albums I say listen to Entombed AD instead (first album was great) or any thrash band...the style before the commercial 90s when bands like Metallica & Megadeth became sell outs as well as swedish bands (cash before thrash), fortunately Thrash came back with bands like Lamb of God and Slipknot in a later wave...this is more rock than metal and then as said above I rather listen to grunge masterpieces.
