The Droogs was formed by Ric Albin (vocals), Roger Clay (guitar), Paul Motter (bass), and Kyle Raven (drums). Inspired by 1960s garage rock and with their early sound later categorized by Trouser Press as "protopunk", they released six singles during the 1970s (later collected on the Anthology album), with several changes. In 2013, the Droogs contributed to Conspiracy A-Go-Go, a themed compilation on JFK's post mortem. 2017 marks the release of Young Gun, featuring ten new songs and a cover of the Seeds Out of the Question. The line-up on the album is Ric Albin (vocals), Roger Clay (guitar), Dave Provost (bass), Dave Klein (drums) and as. Live in Europe (1990) Music Maniac. Want Something (1991). Guerrilla Love-In (1991) Music Maniac. Atomic Garage (1997) Impossible Records.
The Droogs experienced a major change with the arrival of former Textones and Dream Syndicate bassist and keyboards player, Dave Provost in the early-1980s. Provost made his presence felt on a four song EP, Heads Examined, in 1983 and their debut full-length album, Stone Cold World, in 1984. Although their future appeared secure, after singing with the PVC/Jem label, the Droogs continued to find fame evasive. While touring the Midwest, in support of their 1987 album, Kingdom Day, the label declared bankruptcy and went out of business.

Produced by Knxwledge. Fuck, she don't ever fuck She don't ever stress me We don't even talk She don't ever schwack She don't ever schwack. She don’t ever stress me We don’t even talk All we do is sex and leave No there’s no love She don’t even like me But if we have drugs She can be my wifey When we have drugs When we have drugs When we have drugs When we have drugs.
All The Young Droogs highlights this, but really seeks to entertain by introducing some starry-eyed and platform-booted also-rans who just didn’t get the breaks, along with more successful acts who got the press but struggled for hits. There was a ready made market for these bands that could have helped make them. More than anything else they wanted something that had been tacitly promised them, by the spectre of the 60s, in films, on TV, something that was in short supply on the faceless estates and dowdy terrace housing where they lived or the grotty back street cafes, drab concert halls and old men’s pubs and clubs that they tried to eke out.
Biography by Craig Harris. Los Angeles-based band, The Droogs's greatest success has come in Europe.
