While Aimee Mann's solo work has boasted the tape-loop sheen and production smarts of an artist who is most comfortable in the studio, she also happens to be an engaging and expressive live performer, and thankfully Mann has taken the trouble to offer proof of this with this release. Live at St. Ann's Warehouse was recorded during a three-night stand at the titular Brooklyn venue in July of 2004, and captures Mann and her backing band in superb form.

This past June, I saw Aimee Mann Live at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, an intimate little venue just under the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a special evening, with Mann's performance perfectly in sync with the capacity audience's expectations. The concert shows off her very clever song writing, which is perfectly in sync with her unique vocals. All told, a great concert was enjoyed by the 1200 people in attendance. By coincidence, the show I saw was video recorded, and its this CD/DVD combo. Here's what I cannot understand: The DVD comes with a CD of the concert.
