You're All I Need is the second studio album by soul musicians Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, released in August 1968 on Motown-subsidiary label Tamla Records
You're All I Need equals the debut of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell in every way except chart position and newness. It reached number 60 on the pop charts, a good showing but 31 rungs lower than United, their debut. It includes arguably their finest recording, "You're All I Need to Get By," a testament to their singing skills and the writing/producing talents of Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson - and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" is no slouch either
1968’s ‘Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing’ b/w ‘Little Ole Boy, Little Ole Girl’ (Tamla catalog number T-54163) – 1968’s ‘You’re All I Need To Get By’ b/w ‘Two Can Have a Party’ (Tamla catalog number T-54169) – 1968’s ‘Keep On Lovin’ Me Honey’ b/w ‘You Ain’t Livin’ Till You’re Lovin (Tamla catalog. Peaking at 61 pop, ironically the album didn’t sell as well as the first collaboration. None of this mattered to Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell who were riding high on the success of their previous album, from which this one is indistinguishable. That tragedy was just around the corner did nothing to prevent them expressing all the optimism one would expect from a young couple on the cusp of international stardom.

After recording You're All I Need, Tammi Terrell collapsed onstage while performing with Gaye at the Hampden-Sydney College homecoming in Virginia. She was later diagnosed with a brain tumor, and could no longer record nor perform live. According to Gaye, the final Gaye/Terrell album, Easy, would be completed by having Valerie Simpson fill in for Tammi Terrell on most of the album's songs, and having Gaye overdub archived Terrell solo tracks for two tracks.

In theory, Marvin and Tammi recorded three albums together, but Tammi was desperately ill and dying at the time the third album was being recorded, so for most of it, Tammi was replaced by Valerie Simpson, although it was Tammi's name that appeared on the album and the singles that came from it. So the two albums featured on this collection are the only albums that Marvin and Tammi recorded together.
