A single that harks back to the double-sided brilliance of bygone reggae 45s of the '70s, the Bug's "Gun Disease" matches the album version with a B-side version that stretches out Cutty Ranks' vocal into four minutes of ring-modulated genius. The beats are as relentless as on the album, but sliced and diced as befits the flip side of a single.

The Bug's first album, Tapping The Conversation, was released in 1997 on the seminal Wordsound label. The album was conceived as an alternative soundtrack to the 1974 Francis Ford Coppola film The Conversation. In this incarnation, The Bug consisted of Kevin Martin and DJ Vadim, and existed in more of a downtempo and trip hop vein. Gun Disease" – 12" Single (Rephlex Records, 2003). 2003 album, Pressure provides Original future rock for electro mainliners and yardcore fanatics alike. With maniacal MC's blissful crooners and a metaphysical poet, the range of vocals exemplifies the free-thinking range of this album. Exclusive discount for Prime members. Sample this album Artist (Sample). I was introduced to the Bug through a couple of 12"- his collaboration with Cutty Ranks (Gun Disease) and the Rootsman/ dj freddy (Imitator). This work is intense but as a series of singles I found the work aurally digestable. I was a little nervous. In keeping with previous adjectives I maintain that this album is intense. No two ways about it.

Awesome release from The Bug who has really taken a chainsaw to the whole Ragga/dancehall ting of late. Cutty rewrote his early hit 'gunman lyric' for this & together they have created a visceral monster to scare your neighbors with. One for the ladies...NOT! :b

This track is musically what i would call Industrial Electro Ragga Dancehall. I think whoever listed it incorectly referred to it as gabba. Its not. The tempo is a 102bpm ragga dancehall style but coming from a noisy sonic leftfield electronic approach. It fuses all styles together masterfully, with lots of subtle changes and effects. Cutty Ranks (One of Jamaicas oldest and best Hardcore Ragga MCs) adds a brilliant ragga vocal about 'Gun Disease'. The flip has the tough instrumental A great cross genre record.
