The Original Soundtrack From the motion Picture "Fame" was released by RSO records, on LP (247953) and Cassette (3216265) in August 1980. charts at number 73 on 6th September 1980 and spent 7 weeks on the . It peaked at number 21 on 13th September 1980. It was nominated and won a BAFTA award for the Best Soundtrack. Fame" theme was released to promote it and went to number one for 3 weeks. This also triggered interest in the Film soundtrack album which re entered the . charts on 3rd July 1982 at number 35. Over the course of the next 4 months it spent 17 weeks on the chart including 2 weeks at number 1. In the . two singles were released from the album in 1982 "Fame" which reached number 1 and was the 2nd best selling single of that year and "Out Here On My Own" which failed to hit the Top 50.
