Old-time string band music as performed by The Downhill Strugglers with John Cohen (from the 1960s folk group The New Lost City Ramblers). Recorded at the Old Songs Festival in Altamont, NY on June 23, 2017.
Here's us, The Down Hill Strugglers, playing the War Boat Blues (or Show Me the Way to Go Home) out at the Cool Whisper Farm at the Oldtone Roots Music Festival this past September. A great festival and great time! Down Hill Strugglers perform "Captain, Won't You Let Me Go Home". Oldtone Roots Music Festival is with Eli Smith and 4 others. We've had some requests for more information about the sources that inspired our recent album, "Lone Prairie". We love listening to old string bands from the 1920's and 30's, recorded on 78rpm records, as well as to more recent field recordings and other sources. Lone Prairie Sources & Notes.
