Apollo 100 was a short-lived British instrumental studio-based group that had a top 10 hit with the Johann Sebastian Bach-inspired single "Joy" in 1972. The recording of "Joy" as performed by Apollo 100 is a nearly note-for-note remake of the arrangement of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (but with modern pop music flourishes like percussion, electric guitar and bass) recorded by the British band Jigsaw on their 1970 debut album Letherslade Farm.

Dan The Banjo Man is the self-produced album by British musician Phil Cordell, recorded under the pseudonym "Dan The Banjo Man". It was first released in Germany by Rare Earth Records in 1974. The title track became one of Cordell's best known recordings. Previously, Cordell had recorded the instrumental "I Will Return", under the pseudonym "Springwater". It became a hit in the UK in 1971. He also released some singles under his real name in 1973, including "Close To You".

In fact, Dan the Banjo Man was a Phil Cordell solo project, from the t who had sprung into the . s Top Five under the alias Springwater with his "I Will Return" single in 1971. However, Cordell decided that his new wah-wah guitar sounded like a banjo, and thus the Banjo Man was born. A welcome return for a spectacular album that doesn't sound dated in the least, growing only more magnificent with age. Track Listing.
