Twilight of the Gods is the sixth studio album by Swedish extreme metal band Bathory. It continues the exploration of the newly created Viking metal style, and also displays heavy epic doom and classical influences; it is titled after an opera by Wagner. It is a mid-tempo, more acoustic album than previous Bathory releases, though it follows on from the Hammerheart album.
Twilight of the Thunder God is the seventh studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band Amon Amarth. Twilight of the Thunder God was released in September 2008. It is based on Thor's slaying of the serpent Jörmungandr. In anticipation of this album, there was a series of studio diaries in the form of vlogs that discussed the recording process of this album in the studio. There were six vlogs recorded. The first focused on Fredrik Andersson recording the drums.

Prologue - Twilight of the Gods - Epilogue. That is why the outro doesn’t appear on Twilight of the Gods, as it was intended to be the last Bathory album. The melody of "Hammerheart" is adapted from the fourth movement of "Jupiter" from The Planets suite by English classical composer Gustav Holst (1874-1934). A slightly shorter version (9:21) of the track "Blood and Iron" is featured on the '92 Touch of Evil compilation from Black Mark Productions. Recording information: Recorded at Montezuma Studio, Stockholm, Sweden in April 1991.
Still, when removed from this chronological experiment, there's no denying that Twilight of the Gods is one heck of a heavy metal album. Maybe it could have used a little more of the old-school black metal simplicity of early Bathory, but the band's forward momentum was such at this juncture in their career that a look back, however brief, was simply not in the cards
