The Sounds of the Sounds of Science is a score written by Yo La Tengo for filmmaker Jean Painlevé. It contains 78 minutes of instrumental music to accompany his eight short documentary-style films shot underwater. The live performances are known as The Sounds of Science. The program debuted in 2001 at the San Francisco Film Festival. The entire score has been performed approximately twelve times

In the 15 century, Europeans knew nothing of the pepper, but they held black pepper in high regard and had used it in cooking SINCE Greek and Roman times, Ships travelling east brought the black pepper from the Spice Islands in South East Asia but this HAPPEND a long time. In 1492, Christopher Colombus was asked to find a shorter route to the Spice Islands, going westwards better than eastwards, and so he set in from Spain across the Atlantic Ocean.
