The Downtown Club, formerly known as the Downtown Athletic Club, was a private social and athletic club in a 45-story building located at 20 West Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City, United States. It is currently in use as a residential building with condominiums. The Club was founded in 1926. By 1927, it had purchased this site next to the Hudson River to construct its own building. It was completed in 1930.

Downtown Athletic Club. Serving members for over 25 years, the Downtown Athletic Club is Eugene’s premier athletic and social club. At the DAC, opportunities abound. With more than 100,000 square feet of facilities housed in the historic Ax Billy Building, we serve members of all ages and abilities.

The Downtown Athletic Club was founded in 1926 and was initially located at in the Singer Building at 149 Broadway. Two years later, the club had about 1,000 members and planned a 44-story building that would feature, among other things, a full, 18-hole golf course. The landmarks commission's report on the building observed that the first published design showed "a, pyramid-topped tower similar to other early work by the firm," adding that "Less than a year later, the building had been scaled back to 35 stories and took the simplified, modernistic form.
